Recent Videos

The first 6 videos of the SQLiteData series are now available. We have covered CRUD operations and one-to-one, one-to-many and many-to-many relationships and we are almost ready for CloudKit synchronization and sharing.

Coming up with SQLiteData

Next week we complete the series with the final two videos in the series. We first refactor our views to accommodate a better experience on the iPad and implement CloudKit synchronization. The final video shows you what you can do with SQLiteData that is not possible with SwiftData, and that is CloudKit record sharing.

Extending the Network Manager Series

Several weeks ago I released a series of 5 videos on "Cooking Up a Network Manager".

I received a lot of great feedback on that series so I have been working on two more videos for this series and they will be released on the two weeks following the finish of the SQLiteData series.

In Parts 4 and 5 of the Network Manager series, I expand our reusable SwiftUI networking code beyond simple GET requests. First, I show how to work with authenticated APIs by adding an access token to your requests. Then I take it a step further by creating a new user on the server with a POST request and fetching the updated data afterward. Together, these two videos move the series closer to real-world API use, where authentication and sending data are both essential.

My Links: one place for all your contact info and social links

I have been building an app I have wanted for a long time. My Links gives you one simple place to store your social links, websites, email addresses, phone numbers, and more. And.... I synchronize the data among all of your devices using SQLiteData.

On iPhone, everything is presented in a clean list so you can quickly copy any item to the clipboard and paste it wherever you need it. Each entry can also be acted on directly. Tap an email address to open Mail, tap a website to open it in your browser, or tap a phone number to start a call.

You can select individual items or whole sections and share them with someone else in just a few taps. The app also works beautifully in dark mode.

Because I do not spend all day on my phone, My Links is also available on the Mac through a menu bar app with the same core features. Best of all, your information stays in sync across devices, so adding a new item on iPhone makes it available on your Mac almost immediately.

The good news is that it is now available for testing for both iOS and MacOS and you can find it on TestFlight.

If you enjoy what I do and want to support my work, you can join my Ko-fi community and either make a one-time donation or become a monthly supporter for as little as $5/month. Monthly supporters get early access to my videos as soon as they’re uploaded to YouTube (as unlisted videos), sometimes up to a month before they’re made public. Monthly supporters also get priority responses to their questions, and I’m happy to help with coding challenges.

In addition to PayPal, Ko-fi now supports Stripe, which makes it easier to pay by credit card.
